Jonathan Larson's revolutionary rock opera is a love story set in the artistic community of New York in the late 1990s. Against the gritty backdrop of the East Village, a group of bohemians strive for success and acceptance whilst enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDs epidemic.

Inspired by Puccini's classic opera “La Boheme”, “RENT” won many awards, including the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and four Tony awards. BATS Next Gen's production has been adapted from the original version performed on Broadway and in the West End.
