Athenaeum Winds is a diverse, adaptable and lively group of young musicians with a passion for performing and making classical music accessible to all. This fits well with Corstorphine Music remit.
The group has a strong concert profile around Scotland, performing in venues such as Alvie House, BBC Scotland headquarters and St Mary's Cathedral as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2012 the group were awarded the Mary D. Adams Prize for Chamber Music and in 2013 were highly commended for their performance in the Governors Recital Prize for Chamber Music.
Their programme tonight includes excerpts from a new piece specially commissioned for the Quintet from composer Oliver Searle!
