Take Five Illustrators: Alice Melvin, Cate James, Stephane Yyves Barroux, Sara Ogilvie, Bruce Ingman
A vibrant display showcasing the work of five artists who illustrate books for children.
Featuring some of the finest contemporary illustrations for children’s books from both emerging and internationally acclaimed artists, this exhibition is a must for the young, the young-at-heart and the would-be illustrator.
Bruce Ingman’s partnership with author Allan Ahlberg has yielded many successes including The Pencil and The Runaway Dinner. Alice Melvin and Sara Ogilvie were both recipients of the Book Trust Best New Illustrators Award 2011. Sara Ogilvie has re-interpreted some of the classics for the Folio Society and Cate James is well on the road to success with her series of Lollipop and Grandpa stories. Barroux introduces us to his home country in Mr Leon’s Paris, and anyone who loves dogs will not be able to resist My Dog Thinks I’m a Genius.
Three of the illustrators will be appearing at The Edinburgh International Book Festival this summer but you can meet all five of them in person at the monthly master classes held at the Scottish National Gallery.
