Never miss another 'Brian Worland' show

Brian Worland, Jenny Beckwith

Show-tunes, light classical music and more is on offer at the Eastbourne Under Ground Theatre on Saturday 19th January – when the coffee-morning onstage entertainment is provided by pianists Brian Worland and Jenny Beckwith. The fun starts at 10am, and it costs nothing to come in and listen.
.
Brian Worland will take the first turn at the piano, with the emphasis on old favourites like "Moon River", which featured originally in the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's", and "Honeysuckle Rose", a Fats Waller composition that dates from 1928. Among the other numbers you'll be able to enjoy will be Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies”, also from the nineteen twenties, and “On The Street Where You Live”, from “My Fair Lady”. Brian will also be playing some of his own compositions, including “Connemara”, a piece inspired by the beauty of western Ireland.

After a short break, Jenny Beckwith will take over until noon, with a varied repertoire including classical favourites such as Beethoven's "Moonlight" sonata, Delibes' "Flower Duet", and Elgar's "Nimrod".  Among the lighter pieces will be "Sleepy Lagoon" by Eric Coates, and the melody from "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin, together with a couple of romantic songs "A Man and a Woman" and "The Look of Love". There’ll also be a Cole Porter selection of songs like "I love Paris", "It's all Right with Me", & "Night and Day" ... and the audience can sing along if they wish!

Throughout, Fairtrade coffee and tea, and home-made cakes, will be on sale in the UGT’s coffee bar – which will stay open until 4pm, for viewing of the Andrew Forrest art exhibition in the theatre foyer.
