The Sorcerer
“The Sorcerer” was one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s earliest collaborations, and opened in London in November 1877, to be hailed by the Times as a “genuine success”. The comic action centres on a potion that compels people to fall in love with the first person of the opposite sex they set eyes on. The result, of course: a plethora of thoroughly mismatched couples!
