Beware Of Young Girls: The Dory Previn Story: Kate Dimbleby, Naadia Sheriff
Acclaimed jazz singer Kate Dimbleby, accompanied by Naadia Sheriff on piano, re-visit the songs of seventies icon Dory Previn.
Hits such as Lady with the Braid, the most potent of revenge songs, Beware of Young Girls about the elfin Mia Farrow, combine with uproarious gospel numbers like Did Jesus have a Baby Sister?
This is a loving look at Dory’s life and the music that marked it, from a traumatic childhood, via Hollywood scandal and mental breakdown, to finding her voice with uncompromising tales of love and loneliness. Dory used music to write herself sane; with heart, soul, and a liberal sprinkling of Mae West wit.

Kate Dimbleby
Fine performer of jazz standards. 'With a voice of pure velvet, she has a magnetic stage presence...and captivates her audience...the voice is beautifully weighted, the phrasing splendidly judged.' (Glasgow Herald).

Naadia Sheriff
Naadia Sheriff studied both jazz and classical piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Soon after moving to Leeds in 2003 Naadia was working with some of the finest musicians in the region, providing her with a basis to form her own quartet. The music has developed a great deal since the early days and is made up of a combination of original compositions and pieces drawn from her favourite artists including Kenny Wheeler, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. The music is captivating and sustains its audience's attention from the first note to the last.
