Image-inings; Digital Images By Kris Connolly

Kris Connolly has a lifetime’s experience of making images, but this is his first exhibition in the traditional sense. Since moving to Coventry in 2000 he has designed book covers, CDs and posters, and posted many thousands of images on-line that receive plaudits from all over the world.

Kris’s life changed in 2002 when he had the first of a series of strokes. Artistic activity was impossible for three years until he acquired his first camera phone. Now able to make images with one hand, Kris began to explore digital editing, first on pc and later in-phone. A single image would be capable of multiple transformations giving rise to new perceptions and understandings.

Image-inings is Kris’s first attempt to share his artistic journey from 2005. His themes encompass his environment, from the ambit of his room where his health periodically confines him, to Coventry’s evolving cityscape under the constant play of changing light, and the people whose companionship and creativity contribute to his wonder and joy in being alive.
