A Brief History Of Piano Jazz

Jazz Festival Saturday is a very busy day - but find time to visit The Grand for Trish Ferrarin's & Paul Topping's 'Brief History of Piano Jazz' - they will look at the development of piano playing within the genre of jazz, including a brief history from the days of ragtime, the era of stride, and the transition into swing, be-bop and modern jazz.

Works by Joseph Lamb, Scott Joplin, Jelly-0Roll Morton, James P Johnson, Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Keith Jarret, and Michael Borstlap will feature. Paul & Trish will also look at the language of jazz and share their approach to learning improvisation.
