Summerdance 2012: National Dance Company Wales
Summerdance 2012 celebrates exceptional young dancers and musicians in two enchanting dance productions. The premiere of Recovered Visions, choreographed by Gareth Mole & Neus Gil Cortés for forty young dancers, has an original score by Richard Barnard and live music from Welsh National Opera Young Players. The production is inspired by the astonishing ancient Chauvet Cave art, exploring the process of uncovering and recovering echoes of the past. In addition National Dance Company Wales Associates will perform Act II from Scheherazade 2012 (to be presented at St David’s Hall on 9 October).
Summerdance is a partnership between Arts Active, NDCWales and Welsh National Opera to offer talented young dancers and musicians the opportunity to perform together in demanding and challenging new work.
This one-off performance is the culmination and celebration of a year-round series of training and performance events for young dancers led by NDCWales dancers and choreographers in partnership with Arts Active.
