Frankie & The Heartstrings

We’re ecstatic that local musical maestro, Swn & Radio 1’s Huw Stephens is curating the lineup for a special Independent Venue Week Show, bringing the unquenchably enthusiastic Indie-Rock of Frankie & the Heartstrings for a special intimate show at Gwdihw. Having been favourites of Swn in 2012 & 2013, rocking huge crowds at Cardiff Uni & Clwb Ifor Bach, it will be a treat to see the choppy, Northern Indie ditties which hark back to 50s romantic simplicity and are influenced by luminaries such as Orange Juice, up close and personal.

On IVW, Huw said “Gwdihw is a big part of the Cardiff music scene now; it had a vision and it's so welcoming and wonderful, you can't help but fall in love with the place. It books really interesting nights, different to other venues in Cardiff and is passionate about what it does. Independent Venue Week and anything that highlights independent venues is good, as it reminds people that they're there, are really special and are an important part of musical communities.
Frankie and the Heartstrings are one of the best, most underrated bands around and they have a new album coming. They're fantastic live, and I jumped at the chance to book them for this show.”
