Elephant Man
The newly-formed Fourth Monkey Ensemble launches its debut UK tour in late 2014/early 2015 with its production of Elephant Man. Inspired by the iconic David Lynch film and the true story of Joseph Merrick, Elephant Man was written by the company's Artistic Director Steven Green and received rave reviews and numerous award nominations, including the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression award, when it premiered with a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012.
Daniel Chrisostomou repeats his much-acclaimed performance ("an actor that will take the world by storm one day" - A Younger Theatre) as Merrick, who owes his existence to those who exploit his horrible deformities for their own ends. But as he sits silently under curious stares, it is the world around him that appears grotesque.
