Go Folk Yourself: Howlin' Lord
"An evening with folk brought to you by Howling Lord."
Info provided by the Event Organiser
Howlin' Lord are a folk-rock band from Bristol comprised of Mark Legassick (vocals, guitar, banjo, keys) Mark Furnevall (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Thomas Elgie (drums, harmonica). 'GOLD FURY' their debut album produced by Luke Cawthra (Phantom Limb) was released on April 22nd 2011. Howlin' Lord delivers the kind of heartworn country songs that made the world fall in love with Hank Williams Snr and J.R. Cashm, except these songs come not from the cotton fields and honkytonks of the American South but the seaside towns and industrial demise of the British Southwest. Rolling tumbleweeds are exchanged for a discarded beer can rolling in the wind along an out of season seafront, but the backbeat and reverb drenched guitars remain the same.
