Gilad Atzmon, Sigamos String Quartet

Israeli alto sax star Gilad Atzmon and his band join forces with the Sigamos String Quartet to pay tribute to Charlie Parker With Strings, one of the greatest jazz albums ever made.

To hear Atzmon soar like the Bird on Just Friends, Everything Happens To Me, April In Paris and the rest, cushioned by Ros Stephen's respectful yet thrillingly incisive re-arrangements represents a real aesthetic peak whose limpid beauty packs an almost unbearably poignant punch.

New arrangements from Atzmon's Songs of the Metropolis complete the
programme. And in case you didn't know already, Gilad Atzmon is the wittiest front-man ever to cradle a sax. The concert will be performed acoustically, without a PA.
