The Nutcracker: Moscow City Ballet

Moscow City Ballet returns with its dramatic traditional story-telling of a dazzling production of The Nutcracker which showcases the fact that Russian ‘big story’ ballet combines artistry, technique, narrative and live music, thus providing a true dancing experience. Audiences can not only marvel at the perfection of its corps de ballet but witness the excellent dexterity and grace of principal ballerinas Alevtina Lapshina and Liliya Oryekhova.

The Nutcracker is complete with stunning costumes, sumptuous sets and Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece score. This enchanting ballet tells the story of Clara’s magical adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, including a visit to the delicious Land of Sweets and the delightful Sugar Plum Fairy, and is a real festive treat.

A dance company formed in 1988 by the successful Russian choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov. Moscow City Ballet is one of Russia’s most successful and popular touring ballet companies, highly admired for its distinctive style, exciting choreography and exceptionally gifted dancers. With a well deserved reputation for delivering classical ballet productions of the highest standards, the Moscow City Ballet has appeared all over the world. The company is particularly successful in the UK, where it has given more than 1,500 performances since 1991.
