Ein Heldenleben: Birmingham Festival Orchestra
Welcome the rising pianist Alexandra Dariescu who is joining the orchestra for a performance of Mozart's glorious C major Piano Concerto. As a member of the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) and a Laureate of the Verbier Festival Academy, she is in increasing demand performing concertos and recitals around the world including with the Royal Liverpool and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras.
Britten's orchestral variations on Purcell's famous theme in his Young Person's Guide is a brilliant showcase for the virtuosic musicians of the BFO.
The concert culminates in a performance of Richard Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben. With its huge orchestration and glorious melodies, the work is a true tour de force for the orchestra and you can expect to be blown away by this, the largest-scale concert by the orchestra to date.
