The Double

The Ustinov Studio’s Autumn season draws to a close with The Double, Dostoevsky’s hilariously intriguing novella, brought to life in a brand new adaptation by the Ustinov Studio’s award-winning artistic director, Laurence Boswell.

Imagine waking up one morning to find that another person, an exact replica of yourself, has hijacked your body and is posing as you, infiltrating your friendships, gatecrashing parties and generally wreaking havoc! Everyone believes this imposter is you and yet in every aspect of his personality he is the sort of person you would abhor. This is the horror facing Mr Golyadkin, a mild-mannered government clerk, when he awakes one morning in St Petersburg to discover that his world has been turned upside down…

This bold new adaptation of Dostoevsky’s brilliant novella will be filled with special effects, puppetry and accompanied by nineteenth century music and dance.
