Generation NOISE

The DLI Museum and Art Gallery in Durham and Central Art Gallery in Ashton-under-Lyne will be the first to unveil two brand new contemporary art exhibitions designed to draw in families, a previously elusive audience.

The exhibitions will mark the start of Generation Tour, a project addressing the need to increase the number of families visiting galleries. The first two exhibitions, named Generation AIR and Generation NOISE, invite visitors to interact and play with the exhibits in a deliberate contrast to the 'don't touch' attitude many associate with contemporary art venues.

At Generation NOISE visitors can create sounds by drawing sound waves and feeding them into futuristic wooden machines made by artists at Owl Project.
